Arco di Trento is a little treasure chest full of magic. At the foot of the imposing castle, the architecture of the historic center is distributed in an arc, hence probably the name. Starting right from the heart of the town and ascending toward the castle of Arco through the narrow paved alleys, you will catch a glimpse of striking historic buildings.
Once you reach the castle, an unparalleled panorama will open to your eyes: the rooftops of the village below you and the inimitable blue of the Lake.
Among typical small restaurants, wine cellars, bars and stores, Arco is constantly animated by a pulsating lifestyle but full of that ancient magic conveyed by the old stately palaces.

THE CASTLE OF ARCO
Of medieval origins, it dominates the city from above. All that remains today are the ruins and its crenellated tower, but the view, as mentioned, is unparalleled and certainly worth the effort of the climb.
To reach the castle, one must walk an uphill path lasting about 15 minutes. It is therefore advisable to wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for a walking tour.

RIONE STRAFORA
This is a charming and ancient neighborhood located in the historic center of Arco. It is accessible from the castle via a driveway. This medieval quarter, during the Christmas season, turns into a magical village where you can admire nativity scenes and visit the Christmas Markets.
PALAZZO DEI PANNI
It was built in the 17th century on the commission of Giambattista d’Arco, whose family crest stands out on the portal. In the 18th century, the palace was pre-purposed as a woolen mill (hence the name) to cope with the severe period of crisis in which the town was in those years. After various uses over the centuries, today the palace is home to the Civic Library, where conferences and exhibitions are held.
MARCHETTI PALACE (OR OF SAN PIETRO)
This palace dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest in the city. It is immediately striking for its tall Venetian-style terracotta chimneys and frescoes in the underside of the eaves. The sculpted portal is attributed to Giulio Romano. Today the palace is used as a restaurant, in which it is possible to admire the splendid interior frescoes.

THE ARBORETUM
Arco’s Archducal Park or Arboretum, is a beautiful garden with plants from all over the world. It was originally the park surrounding the sumptuous residence of Archduke Albert of Habsburg, built in 1872 with the intention of spending the winter months there. For this very reason, evergreen species were planted in the arboretum.
Today it is an incredible botanical garden, where more than 150 species of trees and shrubs from different areas of the world thrive, and where research on the interaction between plants and climate and educational activities are conducted in collaboration with Trento’s Mu.Se.
Ideal for relaxing breaks among greenhouses and ponds with water lilies. Picnic area, restrooms and dog-friendly spaces are available.
Arciducale Park in Arco is located on Lomego Street, at the beginning of the road leading to the Laghel location, and is open daily with the following hours:
April to September: 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
October through March: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

COLLEGIATE CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA
It is located in the heart of the town of Arco, in Piazza III Novembre. Dating from the 17th century, it was built on the remains of an earlier Romanesque church. It certainly deserves a thorough visit in honor of the numerous works and friezes that decorate it.
Next to the Collegiate Church we find the Chiesa Di Sant’Anna, dating from the 15th century. And, a short distance from the historic center of Arco, in the location of Prabi, immerse yourself in the simple charm of the Chiesa Di Sant’Apollinare. Isolated in a dreamlike atmosphere, it contains beautiful frescoes from the 14th century.
Also near Arco, in the hamlet of Ceole, is the Santuario Della Madonna Delle Grazie, with sculptures and paintings of the life of the Madonna inside.
The Gardens Of Arco
The Gardens of Arco are located near the Collegiate Church and are an oasis of peace for adults, children and faithful four-legged friends! It was built back in 1870 and even today you can admire centuries-old trees and different botanical varieties, including exotic plants, which grow luxuriantly thanks to the microclimate of the place. There are also cafes, kiosks and a beautiful playground in the shade of monumental trees.
The Municipal Casino of Arco
The Arco Municipal Casino, now a venue for conventions and exhibitions, has a history that boasts such illustrious figures as the Habsburg Empress Elizabeth “Sissi,” who stayed in Arco in 1889. After all, in the second half of the 19th century, European nobility had elected the city of Arco as a destination for leisure and winter cures.
Splendid is the veranda where the music gazebo stands out, as well as the ballroom, which features 19th-century-style frescoes, large windows and luxurious chandeliers, and now hosts special events such as weddings and concerts.
The Coffee Museum
For those who can’t do without coffee, Museum Omkafè is a treat (or should we say chicc-o) not to be missed. In a Lake view location, you can discover the secrets of roasting and the history of this much-loved thousand-year-old beverage.

Walks on the Olivaia

It is located in the hamlet of Massone and is dedicated to Gianni Caproni, an aeronautical engineer born here and owner of the land. Around Arco, there are many interesting attractions. The Varone Waterfalls in Riva del Garda are a natural spectacle not to be missed and are just 5km from Arco. Lake Tenno is another wonderful destination, about a 30-minute drive from Arco, with its crystal-clear waters and peaceful atmosphere.
Alternatively, we recommend a visit to the city of Trento, rich in history, culture, and architecture. You can visit the Buonconsiglio Castle, the Cathedral of San Vigilio, and explore the historic center with its beautiful squares.
If you prefer to limit your vacation to exploring Lake Garda, you could visit charming Limone sul Garda, known for its ancient lemon houses, or Malcesine, famous for its Scaliger Castle and cable car to Monte Baldo, from which you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views.
