The garden of Isola del Garda<\/h2>

Parco Giardino Sigurt\u00e0: Italy’s best-loved Italian-style garden<\/h2>

A few kilometres from the lake, in the Verona hinterland, lies one of Italy’s most visited and award-winning parks: Parco Giardino Sigurt\u00e0<\/strong>, in Valeggio sul Mincio. It isn’t a garden “on” Lake Garda in the strict sense, but it’s so loved by lake visitors that it has become an almost essential stop for anyone seeking greenery and wide open spaces.<\/p>

The park covers dozens of hectares and combines large English-style lawns<\/strong>, flower-lined avenues, a romantic pond with swans<\/strong>, a famous maze<\/strong> and one of Italy’s most photographed spots: the Avenue of Roses<\/strong>, a long tunnel of climbing roses that bursts into colour and fragrance in spring. The park changes face with every season: from the early-spring tulips to the autumn foliage, there’s always a reason to come back.<\/p>

Given its size, it’s worth setting aside at least half a day<\/strong> for the visit, perhaps combining it with a stop in Valeggio sul Mincio, a village also known for its tortellini and its historic Visconti Bridge over the River Mincio.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Heller Garden: art and botany in Gardone Riviera<\/h2>

In Gardone Riviera, not far from the Vittoriale degli Italiani (you’ll find all the details in our dedicated guide), lies another green gem: the Andr\u00e9 Heller Botanical Garden Foundation<\/strong>, also known as Heller Garden. Founded in the late 19th century as a botanical garden and later transformed by Austrian artist Andr\u00e9 Heller into a path that combines extremely rare exotic plants and contemporary artworks<\/strong>.<\/p>

Strolling along its paths you’ll discover giant bamboo, tree ferns, water lilies and a botanical collection gathered from every corner of the world, all enriched by sculptures<\/strong> by artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Mimmo Paladino and Keith Haring, scattered among the vegetation. There’s no shortage of water features, small waterfalls and, from some points in the garden, a breathtaking view of the lake.<\/p>
